Your Starlink cable is more than a data line — it also carries the power that drives the dish. That is why length, gauge and connector type matter so much. Too long a run, or a cheap extension, introduces voltage drop and signal loss. Starlink's cables use proprietary connectors that vary by generation, so a cable built for one dish will not always fit another. Keep the factory cable intact and only extend with hardware designed for your specific model.
Even a perfect dish underperforms if it is pointed at a tree. Mounts solve the placement problem, whether you bolt the dish to a roof, hang it from a wall or raise it on a pole. The right mount is determined by your surface — shingle, tile, metal or flat — and by how much height you need to clear obstructions. A mount that fits your roof type stays water-tight and holds alignment through wind and snow.
Power accessories are the most generation-sensitive of all. Different Starlink dishes draw different voltages and use different power supplies, so an adapter meant for one model can leave another under-powered or damage it outright. When you add a power adapter, an inline PoE injector or a UPS backup, confirm it matches the wattage and connector of your dish before you plug anything in.
Before you order anything, confirm your dish generation and its connector type. A Mini, a Performance (Gen 3) and an Enterprise unit all have different cable ends and power needs. Buying generation-specific hardware avoids the most common accessory mistake: gear that fits the wrong dish.
